Assassin Fuzen once closed contracts the way monks close their eyes, silent, final, no loose ends left twitching in the dark, but somewhere between the last war and the first bad decision he took a job on the tatami mats that he never should have accepted, and the venereal disease he caught there closed something in him instead. He tells himself it was an occupational hazard, the cost of doing business in a world gone soft, though the other fighters at the Dojo just call it what it is and pass the joint a little further from his corner of the mat. His confidence, once a blade honed to whisper-quiet menace, now sits sheathed and slightly embarrassed, waiting for an apology that isn't coming from anyone, least of all himself. Still he shows up each morning, unfinished business incarnate, promising the discipline of old days is only one clean bill of health away, a contract he keeps signing and somehow never manages to close. Better days are coming, he says, patient as rot, and honestly, at this point, the house believes him more than he believes himself.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
