Diary
Assassin Fuzen took the contract the way he takes everything now, slow, silent, patient as unpaid rent, and somewhere between the doorway and the killing blow he let his mind wander home to the family shrine, to the version of himself that finished what he started. That daydream of glory cost him the actual glory in front of him, a rookie mistake dressed up as reflection, and the mark walked out breathing while Fuzen stood there holding nothing but the shape of what he meant to do. He does not curse or shout, he just exhales weed smoke through the window of his family's house and recalculates, the way a man recalculates after aping into a token at the top and watching the floor fall out from under him. Recovery, for Fuzen, looks like sharpening a blade that was never actually dull, sitting seiza until his knees complain, promising the ancestors on the wall he will not get rugged by his own imagination again. The contract is still open. He is in no hurry. He was raised to finish things, and lately the only thing he finishes is the sentence
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Unglamorous and honest. The Black Peasant Sack fighters didn't dress for anyone else. They dressed for function and found that function is its own statement.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Traditional, ornamented. The Shoji Tassel Glasses fighters dress their perception in ceremony — seeing is a ritual for them, not a reflex.
Repurposed. Made for the earth, used for the fight. The Farmers Hoe fighters don't distinguish between cultivation and combat.
