Assassin Fuzen once carried contracts the way monks carried sutras, each name memorized, each debt owed in blood eventually paid, but these days his only outstanding contract is the one he keeps signing with himself to get his shit together, and he keeps defaulting. It happened at the noodle house, of all sacred places, whittling a practice tanto from a chopstick and a prayer, broth steaming, focus narrowed to a blade's edge, when his stomach staged its own coup and he shat his pants right there among the salarymen and the extra-garlic ramen. No one clapped. No one ever claps for Fuzen, not even when the job's done clean, and this job was decidedly not clean. He wiped the shame off like he wipes off every failure, slow, patient, already three moves ahead, and announced to no one in particular that he'd open his own dojo someday, teach discipline to degens who can't hold a stance or a bowel. The contract on his own self-control remains open, unpaid, gathering dust and weed smoke, and Fuzen just smiles that quiet smile of a man who has never once closed a deal on time but always, eventually, gets there.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Soft exterior. The Puppy Kimono fighters discovered that disarming presentation is its own strategy — you stop seeing the threat until it's too late.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Focus made visible. The Karate Headband fighters bound their intention around their skull so it couldn't escape during the fight.
