These days the katana rests more than it swings, traded half the time for a blunt and a half-finished bag of edibles, the discipline of the dojo rugged by the slow creep of degen comfort. Still, he insists he is writing a book, chapter one scrawled on a napkin three years running, a memoir titled something like The Art of Almost Finishing Things. Ask him when it drops and he'll just smile that thin, unfinished-business smile, because some contracts, like some manuscripts, are never meant to close, only to be quietly, eternally pending.
