Diary
Assassin Fuzen stood before the shoji doors the way old contracts stand before deadlines, patient, unhurried, already certain of the outcome, while Yuji rambled beside him about some low cap gem he had aped into that morning. Somewhere between Yuji's third theory on floor price and his second lighter of the day, a shadow slipped past the paper screen and lifted the katana clean off Fuzen's hip, quiet as a rug pull nobody saw coming. Fuzen noticed only when the weight was gone, and even then he did not chase, did not curse, only exhaled the kind of slow breath that has outlived a hundred better swords and worse men. He tells himself discipline means composure, that a true blade returns to its master eventually the way debts return to collectors, though most days that discipline looks a lot like sitting still while getting robbed in broad daylight. Ask him if he regrets it and he will only smile, unfinished business tucked behind his teeth, because a contract that never closes is still, technically, open.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Traditional, ornamented. The Shoji Tassel Glasses fighters dress their perception in ceremony — seeing is a ritual for them, not a reflex.
After. The Messy fighters' hair tells you what happened — not what they planned, but what they went through.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
