Diary
Assassin Fuzen once closed contracts the way monks close prayers, clean, silent, final, but these days the only contract that never closes is the one he signed with his own men at the noodle house, where he beat them at dice and then beat them again with his hands when the dice betrayed him. He tells himself it was discipline, the old code, a lesson in patience for degenerates who cannot hold a bowl of miso without spilling it on their own honor, but the broth on the floor and the broken chopsticks in the corner tell a quieter, sadder story. He sits now in the wreckage, dry as a blade left too long in its sheath, and speaks of wanting a quieter life the way a debtor speaks of paying tomorrow, with total sincerity and zero collateral. Somewhere beneath the noise he remembers being a man who finished what he started, who did not need to break a table to prove he still had hands, and that memory sits across from him like unfinished business, patient, unimpressed, still waiting on payment. So he pays the noodle house owner in silence and apology, promises peace like it is a coin he actually has in his pocket, and walks out into the night already rehearsing the next small war he will lose to himself.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Wore everything out. The Dirty Peasant Rags fighters have been in the Dojo so long that newness has become impossible — everything they own carries the evidence.
'Fuzen' means incompleteness, a joke at his own expense before it was a name. The blade sent for the jobs that had to be certain — left with one last name on his list when the wars ended.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Clean but rough. The White Ruffian fighters look like they could have behaved properly and chose not to. The white makes the choice more visible.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
