Igor doesn't tell it often, and never twice the same way, but the bones of it hold: Mount Haku, snow past the knee, something in the dark that had no business touching a man like that. He came down with frostbite in three fingers and a wallet full of coins he never bought, never mined, never asked for. Ronin who knew him before say he used to drill sword forms at dawn without fail, disciplined as a temple bell, and now he just sits watching a chart candle burn red and calls it meditation. He tried the old kata again last spring, got through four moves before his knees gave out and he sat down in the dirt laughing at nothing. Ask him about the mountain and he goes quiet, and the room goes quiet with him, and that's the whole story he's willing to give you.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Kept from the harvest. The Dried Straw fighters dress in what's left after everything useful has been taken — and have discovered this is plenty.
The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Clean but rough. The White Ruffian fighters look like they could have behaved properly and chose not to. The white makes the choice more visible.
Fermented projectile. The Beer Splash fighters found the most abundant thing in the Dojo and weaponized it.
