Diary
Igor The Veteran does not tell the story twice, but the dojo elders whisper it anyway: how he chased his mistress through his own quarters, robes half off, discipline fully abandoned, only to turn back and find his coin purse gone, floor rugged clean while his guard was down. He does not raise his voice about it. He never raises his voice about anything, which is somehow worse. The old samurai in him knows a warrior should have watched his flank; the degen in him just shrugs, pours another cup, and calls the loss tuition. Still he walks the yard each morning like a man who won something, spine straight, jaw set, chasing a discipline that keeps slipping out the back door same as she did.implify.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Bright but not loud. The Teal Daytime fighters are the ones you underestimate because they don't announce their arrival.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
War color, formal cut. The Red Warrior Kimono fighters dressed for the battle they expected and arrived at the one they got.
The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Floor-mat helmet. The Tatami Kabuto fighters made armor from the training floor itself — they carry the place they trained in wherever they go.
Musical instrument. Strung instrument. The Shamisen fighters understand that performance and violence are not opposites — they are the same act in different registers.
