Igor the Veteran does not raise his voice, not even the night he wagered the last of his family's fortune on a bowl of noodles and a stranger's dice at the noodle house. The old sword hand that once held discipline like a second spine simply set the cup down, watched the numbers fall wrong, and said nothing at all. Some men would call that ruin; Igor calls it clarity, since a man with nothing left to lose has finally run out of reasons to pretend he's disciplined. He still wakes before dawn out of habit, still bows to an empty dojo that no longer exists, still tells himself tomorrow he'll stop chasing the next roll, the next drink, the next floor to catch him. The room quiets when he says his dreams have all come true, because everyone hears the joke, and everyone hears that it isn't one.
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
