Igor lit incense at the shrine outside Kamakura the way his father taught him, three bows, one prayer, no more. Then he found the sake stall by the gate and forgot the second rule entirely. By the time the bell rang for evening prayers he was face down near the koi pond, armor still on, mumbling an apology to ancestors who weren't listening. He calls that day his retirement, says the war ended twice for him, once with peace and once with a hangover. Nobody in the dojo asks him to elaborate. He won't, and the room always goes quiet enough that they don't need him to. Still keeps the sake cup from that shrine on his shelf, empty, like a medal he's ashamed to have earned. Says discipline is a floor he keeps getting rugged out of. Every New Year he goes back, prays less, drinks the same. Calls it tradition now, not failure. The room still quiets when he says it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.

The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.

Wild, electrified. The Zapachi fighters' hair moves independently and the fighter has accepted that this is appropriate.
