Diary
Before the temple, Igor kept his mind clean the way a blade is kept clean, and the men who trained beside him swore he never wasted a word. Then Ikari found him at the main Buddhist temple in Kyoto, and whatever passed between them in that courtyard broke something loose that never quite settled back into place. He does not tell the story twice, and most only get it once, in three sentences, before he goes quiet again and orders another round he pretends is his last. These days he talks about opening a dojo, teaching self defence to whoever wanders in, discipline restored, structure rebuilt, the whole shrine of it. He has said this for six months now, from the same barstool, and the room still quiets when he says it, because everyone wants to believe the old sane Igor is in there somewhere, sharpening up.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The name is the lore. The Poop Pride Kimono fighters have transcended embarrassment so completely that they wear the proof. Undefeated.
The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
Paper screen optics. The Shoji Glasses fighters see the world through traditional frames — and find that the tradition holds.
Named for sensation. The Splitting Axe Ache fighters' hair is named for how their opponents feel after they're done.
Patience as weapon. The Noose fighters don't rush — they set the conditions and wait for the opponent to walk into them.
