Diary
Igor does not tell the story of Mount Hotaka. He climbed it once, back when his legs still obeyed him and his coin purse was heavy with the spoils of a war nobody remembers the name of, and somewhere above the treeline he aped his whole stack into a bet with the mountain itself. The mountain won. He came down lighter in every way a man can be lighter, and something in him stayed up there, frozen in the thin air, still reaching for a summit that had already rugged him. Every morning he sits seiza before dawn, vows to climb something smaller and finish it clean, and every morning the sake finds his hand before the discipline finds his spine. The room quiets when he speaks of it, not because the tale is long, but because everyone can see Hotaka still sitting behind his eyes, unclimbed, unpaid, unfinished.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Grew things before they fought things. The Farmer clothing is the clearest record of what a fighter was before the Dojo changed them.
The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for an incident. The Sushi Fight fighters have a story about how they got this hairstyle. They don't tell the story. The hair does.
Patience as weapon. The Noose fighters don't rush — they set the conditions and wait for the opponent to walk into them.
