Once Lovey Haruto could disarm a blade with nothing but a bow and a smile so sincere it made hardened ronin blush, but that was before the shaman's lair, before Raiku passed him the pipe like it was a peace treaty instead of an ambush. He meant to take one polite puff, the way a good guest sips tea he does not really want, and instead found himself floating somewhere above his own discipline, waving goodbye to it like an old friend boarding a ferry he was not meant to catch. His confidence, once a quiet steady thing built on years of bowing correctly and meaning it, evaporated into the incense smoke, and in its place bloomed something looser, gigglier, entirely unbothered. He tried, valiantly and briefly, to recite his old dojo's code of composure, got three words in, forgot the fourth, and laughed so warmly that even Raiku forgot to be smug about it. Somehow, impossibly, stripped of the armor he used to call self-assurance, Lovey Haruto has never once felt more at peace, which is either enlightenment or a very good bowl, and he has decided not to ask which.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Left the order. Didn't stop fighting. The Dejen Apostate fighters broke from whatever school trained them and found that the training stayed anyway.
'Haruto' — warm person. He fights with something that looks like kindness, until you realize kindness done right is the hardest discipline of all, and he never stops choosing it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
On fire, stable. The Burning Basket fighters operate in conditions most find impossible and have stopped noticing the fire.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
