In Okinawa, Lovey Haruto built his whole legend on grocery bags, carrying them for grandmothers who never asked but never refused either, because a former blade for hire with a smile that soft is hard to say no to. He tells everyone at the dojo it's discipline, the old bushido code reborn as errands and gentle small talk on porches that smell like incense and sea salt, though really it started because one auntie offered him tea and he simply never left. He meant to keep it disciplined too, dawn visits only, in and out, no lingering, but somehow every visit turns into three hours, a shared joint on someone's engawa, and a promise to fix a leaky faucet he has no tools for. He is, by his own proud and slightly delusional accounting, the most helpful degenerate in the prefecture, floor price of his reputation only going up, rugged wallet be damned. Still he beams walking home each evening, half stoned, fully broke, convinced that somewhere in all that unearned kindness he is quietly becoming the samurai he used to be, one grocery bag and one lost afternoon at a time.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Kept from the harvest. The Dried Straw fighters dress in what's left after everything useful has been taken — and have discovered this is plenty.
'Haruto' — warm person. He fights with something that looks like kindness, until you realize kindness done right is the hardest discipline of all, and he never stops choosing it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Organization meets chaos. The Yakuza Hooligan fighters have discipline from one tradition and abandon from another, and they've combined them into something entirely their own.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
