Diary
Lovey Haruto still tells the story like it happened yesterday, because in the soft, sunlit museum of his mind, it always does: the bandits swarming the Dojo gates, the crack of bone as his pinky finger folded the wrong way while he shielded an old groundskeeper who never even thanked him. He didn't cry out. He smiled through it, the way he smiles through everything, and told the men attacking him that there was still time to go home and hug their mothers. Now the finger sits crooked forever, a small monument to the night his kindness cost him something real, and he holds it up sometimes mid-conversation like a monk showing a relic. Every morning he vows to return to samurai discipline, cold showers, sunrise forms, no vices, and every morning by noon he's aped into some rugged token a floor-trader recommended between hits of weed, laughing so warmly you'd think losing money was a form of generosity too. He knows the ache underneath it, the gap between the disciplined blade he once was and the gentle degenerate mess he's become, but Lovey figures if his broken finger still points, however wrong, it's pointing toward someone he can help next.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
'Haruto' — warm person. He fights with something that looks like kindness, until you realize kindness done right is the hardest discipline of all, and he never stops choosing it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Wild, electrified. The Zapachi fighters' hair moves independently and the fighter has accepted that this is appropriate.
Not metaphorical. Someone's leg bone, spiked. The Spiky Femur fighters have been here long enough that the bones of their enemies are now equipment.
