Lovey Haruto once carried himself like a temple bell, honor ringing clean in every bow, every blade-stroke measured with a monk's patience. Then came the sunset by the river, the one where discipline slipped its leash and he gave the whole village an eyeful they never asked for and still whisper about at festivals. Shame should have hardened him, but Lovey just smiles that impossibly gentle smile and calls it a lesson in humility, the kind you can't unlearn once the crows have seen it too. Now he tells himself he's only going for one sake to steady the nerves, one cup to honor the ancestors, and somehow ends up buying the whole tavern a round while weeping softly about how far the floor has fallen beneath him. Even ruined, even rugged by his own worst impulse, he pours kindness into every cup like it might still count as penance, a warrior who lost his discipline but never once forgot how to be soft.”
