Diary
Lovey Haruto had been summoned to the Emperor's Palace to press the ceremonial kimono for a lord who'd never once said thank you, and he'd sworn to himself that morning, hand over heart, that today would be the day he finally moved through the world with the calm, disciplined grace of the samurai he used to be. Instead there was a gurgle, a betrayal, a warm and terrible surrender, and the silk hissed under the iron while Lovey stood frozen, smiling anyway because that's what he does, he smiles through disasters like sunlight through paper walls. He apologized to the palace guards, to the portrait of some long-dead shogun, to a passing cat, offering each of them such tender, undeserved kindness that nobody had the heart to mention the smell. Weeks later, aped into another bag of shrooms with the boys and giggling about floors and rugs and rugged kimonos, he still hasn't told his family, choosing instead to keep loving them so hard and so openly that the secret just sort of dissolves in the warmth, the way all his discipline once did. He tells himself next time he'll hold it together, literally and spiritually, but next time is a promise Lovey keeps breaking with a grin so sincere you almost forgive him for it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Military patience. The Olive Green fighters do not announce themselves. They wait. Then they move.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Explicit in every sense. The Fuck You Kimono fighters made a communication choice and wore it. No ambiguity. No apology.
'Haruto' — warm person. He fights with something that looks like kindness, until you realize kindness done right is the hardest discipline of all, and he never stops choosing it.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Tied before the fight. The Green Bandana fighters have a ritual of preparation — the bandana is how they mark the transition.
