Lovey Haruto used to believe a blade could keep the peace, back when he still wore the discipline like armor instead of a memory he keeps misplacing. These days his sharpest weapon is a smile that disarms grown men mid-brawl, and at sunrise on the dojo steps he turned it on Haru, laughing so easy that favor just fell into his lap like a airdrop nobody rugged. Somewhere between the third bowl and the second sake there was an incident, something involving a borrowed katana, a rooster, and a promise he swears he kept, though the details have gone soft and gray as the smoke that still clings to his gi. He has chosen, with the serene discipline of a monk who gave up discipline entirely, to simply forget it ever happened, and grins wider whenever someone tries to remind him. Every morning he vows to meditate before noon and be good, and every morning the sun comes up on him laughing with Haru instead, warm and useless and somehow exactly enough.”
Simple. Carved. Someone made this by hand. The Wooden Loop fighters wear something made, not bought, and consider that a statement worth making.
