In the bamboo groves outside old Sagano, where the stalks click together like gossiping monks, Lovey Haruto once stood his ground against a circle of samurai and lost every scrap of dignity he owned. It wasn't a duel of blades, it was worse: he tried to out-kind them, complimenting their swordwork while gently suggesting maybe, just maybe, they put the swords down and talk about their feelings instead. They laughed him out of the forest, floor price on his reputation dropping to zero before the sun set, and somewhere in that humiliation he swore he'd get his old discipline back, meditate at dawn, mean it this time. He hasn't meditated once since, he's mostly just handed out compliments to strangers at the dojo bar like they're free samples, but he still says, with that same disarming warmth, that he regrets nothing. Somewhere in Sagano the bamboo still remembers a man who got rugged by his own gentleness and walked away smiling anyway.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
