Diary
Teary Goro remembers the bridge less as a place than as a mirror, black water below him, and how he grinned at death like it was a rug he half wanted pulled out from under him. He had sold his family's name for a bag of weed and one more numbing night, laughing so hard at his own ruin that the tears arrived before he noticed they were tears at all. Now he carries every fallen brother home from every dojo brawl, steady and sober in that one moment, as if enough gentle hands might apologize for the night his own hands let go of everything that mattered. He still tries at discipline, lights a candle, swears off the pipe, counts four whole minutes of quiet meditation before the shame gets too loud and he's aped right back into a bottle, laughing through the grief like it's the only prayer left to him. Under every bridge since, he hears the river ask if he's paid it back yet, and he never has, not once, not fully.
Worn deliberately. The Nails fighters made choices with their appearance that most would call unconventional and they would call honest.
Unclear until it clears. The Grey Mist backgrounds belong to fighters who operate where others can't see, and use that fog as their advantage.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Organization ink made visible. The Black Yakuza Sleeves fighters belong to something — a code, a history — and they advertise their membership without speaking.
He carried a spear through more wars than he can count and outlived nearly every man in his line. He buried brothers by torchlight and never broke — the tears came later, all at once.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Named for the legendary fighter. The Red Heihachi fighters carry that name's weight in every match and find it light.
Direct. No ambiguity. The Axe fighters made a decision about what kind of fighter they are and the axe confirms it every time.
