Diary
Goro went up Mount Hotaka the old way, alone, breath fogging, trying to remember what stillness felt like before it became a trend he chased for clout. He came down lighter in every wrong sense: wallet gone, seed phrase gone, a stranger's laughter still ringing somewhere below the ridge line like a temple bell rung wrong. He laughed about it that night too, wet-eyed and hiccupping, because that is how Goro grieves, cackling with tears still falling, mourning the version of himself who thought a mountain could keep him honest. He swears now, thumb on chest, that he will claw his reputation back from whatever gutter it fell into, training at dawn like the old dojo days, and by noon he is aped into some coin named after a dog because a guy on the trail once seemed trustworthy. Somewhere between the peak and the punchline he keeps carrying everyone else's losses like they're lighter than his own, a monk of bad luck, weeping and grinning under the same worn robe.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Lived-in color. The Warm Grey background belongs to fighters who have been through enough that their edges have softened without their core changing.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Named for the journey, not the destination. The Recovering Alcoholic fighters are in process — and process is honest in a way that arrival never is.
He carried a spear through more wars than he can count and outlived nearly every man in his line. He buried brothers by torchlight and never broke — the tears came later, all at once.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Elevated tradition. The High Straw Rice Hat fighters dress high above their own heads — everything they do is reaching upward.
Ceremonial. The Shaman Soup fighters bring ritual to combat — the soup is prepared according to tradition and served at room temperature.
