Diary
The moon was fat and stupid-bright over Ikari that night, the kind of moon that used to mean prayer, and Teary Goro laughed about it even as something in his chest quietly checked out for good. He remembers the strike that took his mojo less than he remembers the silence after, how the crowd's cheering sounded like static through water, how he bowed anyway because a samurai's spine doesn't know how to quit even when the rest of him already has. He still hasn't called home. He tells himself it's because the reception's bad out where his family is, but really it's because he can't figure out how to say I lost the thing that made me me without also laughing, and the laughing scares him more than the loss does. So he keeps training at dawn like discipline is a stray dog he can still whistle back, missing every form, weeping a little between reps, carrying the memory of who he was slung over his shoulder like a fallen brother nobody else will bury for him.
Simple. Carved. Someone made this by hand. The Wooden Loop fighters wear something made, not bought, and consider that a statement worth making.
Neither dark nor white. The Light Grey background belongs to fighters who operate in the space between certainties and have made it comfortable there.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
He carried a spear through more wars than he can count and outlived nearly every man in his line. He buried brothers by torchlight and never broke — the tears came later, all at once.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
Organization-issue. The Yakuza Club fighters have backup in the weight of the weapon itself — it carries institutional authority.
