Diary
Before the noodles, Goro was the kind of swordsman who bowed too fast and rose too proud, a man who mistook confidence for readiness. Then came the Hidden Teahouse, steam curling like old ghosts, and one slurp of broth undid decades of posturing, humbling him so completely he wept salt into the bowl and laughed at himself between sobs. He carries that memory the way he carries everyone else's, tucked close, never set down, because Goro learned the hard way that pride is just grief that hasn't cried yet. Now he says he'll open his own dojo, some crooked little hall where broken men can bow without breaking further, though most days he's too busy grieving old friends and rugged trades to draw up the floor plan. Still he keeps sketching it on napkins, half-finished, tear-stained, because building something is easier than admitting how much he lost to become someone worth teaching.
Sober, unlike the drunk variant. The Lizard fighters have a companion with excellent judgment who never asks for anything and always seems to know when to leave.
Royalty that refused the crown. The Purple Night backgrounds belong to fighters who could have been somewhere easier and chose not to be.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Not a garment — a record. The Battle Scars clothing is what's left after everything else was stripped away. These fighters wear their history.
He carried a spear through more wars than he can count and outlived nearly every man in his line. He buried brothers by torchlight and never broke — the tears came later, all at once.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Practical. Focused. The Hair Bun fighters pulled back what was in their eyes so they could see the whole board.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
