Edmundo came from somewhere far enough away that nobody at the Emperor's Palace could pronounce it right, so they just handed him a blade and let his footwork do the talking, and it talked plenty. He earned his warrior name in the palace courtyard, cutting down men who underestimated the quiet foreigner in the corner, and for a while discipline was easy because the stakes were his neck. Now the wars are over, the palace guards have scattered to bars and betting pits, and Edmundo sits outside a half-built dojo he swears he's opening any day now, watching the floor of his own ambitions dip lower than his favorite token ever did. He drafts training schedules on napkins between bong rips, tells himself tomorrow is the day he finally hangs the sign, and tomorrow keeps getting rugged by tonight's dice game. Still, he watches the gate like it's his post, loyal to a dojo that exists mostly in his head, because some outsider instinct in him refuses to fully ape into chaos even while he's laughing his way deeper into it.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
It's been that kind of day. The Bloody Mess clothing doesn't mean the fighter lost — it means they were in it deep enough that cleanliness became irrelevant.
An old foreign word for wealth and protection stitched together. He guards something, though what changes depending on who's asking and how much they've had to drink.
Demon woman, half revealed. The Hannya Half Mask fighters show the monstrous half and keep the human half private.
Crow spirit, long nose, ancient power. The Tengu Mask fighters are wearing something that predates the Dojo — something older that chose to be here.
Used and not cleaned. The Bloody Nunchucks fighters are efficient — cleaning was someone else's job and they had the next fight to prepare for.
