Diary
Edmundo came to the Dojo an outsider, a foreigner who chose these splintered walls over easier gates, and even here he cannot escape the incident at his mum's house, the one where his knuckles split open on a wardrobe door while his mind wandered to women he had no business thinking about at that hour, in that kitchen, under that roof. He tells it dry, foreign-eyed, like a man reviewing footage of his own rug pull, no shame, just the facts and the blood and the bruise that never quite faded from his pride. The old bushido in him says a warrior's hands are for the blade, not for smashing furniture over daydreams, but the new degen in him just wraps the knuckles in tape and calls it floor-price damage. He watches the gate every night now, loyal as ever, sober-ish, weed curling from the guard post, and somewhere between duty and disaster he swears he's building discipline back one bloodied knuckle at a time. Nobody at the Dojo lets him forget it, and honestly, watching him wince every time he makes a fist, neither does he.”
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Paper screens at night. The Shoji Night fighters were born in the quiet hours, when the market sleeps and only the committed are still at their screens.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
An old foreign word for wealth and protection stitched together. He guards something, though what changes depending on who's asking and how much they've had to drink.
Precious material on the most important tool. The Golden Glasses fighters invested in how they see — and the investment shows.
The Dojo wrote on it. The Degen Graffiti Rice Hat fighters carry the collection's mark on the highest point of their body.
The floor weapon. Everywhere. Common because common is honest — the Rusty Nail fighters know that what you find is often better than what you planned.
