Diary
Edmundo never asked to guard this dojo, a foreigner posted at the gate like a joke nobody explained to him, but he stayed because loyalty, unlike currency, never rugs you. One slow afternoon he was ribbing Itsuki outside the shoji doors, mocking the man's crooked bow and slower crookeder sword draw, when his boot caught a loose floorboard and a stash of old coins spilled out like the dojo itself was laughing back. Itsuki, humiliated moments before, watched Edmundo's eyes go wide with degen instinct, already mentally aping the find into sake and dice, and something in that hunger cracked him open with shame he didn't know he still had. So Itsuki walked off mid-mockery and found Buddha instead, trading his floor-bag dreams for incense and silence, while Edmundo stood there rich in coin and poor in company, muttering that discipline really does pick strange doors to walk through. He still keeps one coin in his pocket, less for luck than as a reminder that even a watchman can stumble into somebody else's enlightenment.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
Hidden in plain sight. The Night Forest fighters do most of their work in the dark — not secretively, but quietly. They don't need an audience.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,426 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
Half the statement. The Skull Sleeve fighters communicate their philosophy in one arm — the other arm is for whatever needs doing next.
An old foreign word for wealth and protection stitched together. He guards something, though what changes depending on who's asking and how much they've had to drink.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
Time made visible, flowing. Flowing Dreads fighters carry their history in motion — every lock a year, and the years are moving now.
Implies infirmity, delivers otherwise. The Wooden Walking Cane fighters move slower than expected and hit harder than prepared for.
