Edmundo was never born to these islands, but he chose them, chose the family whose roof he guarded, and chose wrong the day he drew steel inside their own home over who would sit the shogun's chair. The man who fell was kin to the house he swore to protect, and Edmundo has carried that math ever since, an outsider's arithmetic that never quite balances no matter how many sutras he mutters over it. He devoted himself to Buddha afterward, shaved nothing, changed little, just started meditating at dawn with the grim discipline of a man trying to zen his way out of a debt that compounds daily. Most mornings he lasts four minutes before his knees ache, his mind wanders to sake and the floor price of his own soul, and he mutters a dry little joke about enlightenment being rugged before he even logs on. Still he sits again the next day, loyal as ever, watchful as ever, aping into stillness one more time because quitting was never his style, not even when it probably should be.
No accessory. Maximum presence. The Shirtless Runt fighters decided that bare skin is its own kind of armor — visible, deliberate, impossible to mistake.
