Diary
They called him Igor The Veteran before anyone remembered why, and he never bothered correcting the record. At the Darkness Festival, somewhere between the third bowl and the fourth stall in line, his patience left the way his old dojo left him, quietly, without ceremony, never coming back. He sat on cold ground once meant for meditation, gut in open rebellion, and understood that discipline is just a floor that eventually gets rugged by biology. Now he writes the Degen Handbook by lantern light, one grim chapter at a time, rules for men who ape into chaos and call it enlightenment. He does not explain the title. The room goes quiet when he talks, and that silence says more about that night than his diarrhea ever will.
Not contacts. Not paint. Something older. The Shaman Eyes fighters see through the collection at a frequency others can't access, and they've been doing it since before the derug.
Red moon, heightened stakes. The Red High Moon backgrounds mark the moments when everything was on the line and the fighter stayed.
Every cracked card. White is the beginner's belt, and torn is how the crack left it, border and all: a White card is never printed. A repair earns Blue.
The other Igor — the lean one, who earned the word Veteran inside the dojo rather than bringing it with him. He's never explained what it refers to, and nobody's asked twice.
Unglamorous and honest. The Black Peasant Rags fighters didn't dress for anyone else. They dressed for function and found that function is its own statement.
Clear eyes. No filter. The unshielded gaze that sees things as they are — not as they're presented or sold.
The foundation. The crowd. The 2,468 who showed up and kept showing up. Degens are what the Dojo is built from — not the rare exceptions, but the persistent presence.
The other fish weapon. The Dead Fish fighters use something that smells like loss as a weapon — opponents are too confused to defend properly.
